Our Team
Daniel Alexander
Managing Director for Compita Consulting, providing environmental, work health and safety (WHS) and risk management services.
After being placed into a confined space without the proper training or required control measures early in his career, Daniel researched the hazards and realised he might not come home if the practice continued. This personal experience and an interest in problem-solving sparked his passion for WHS.
Daniel has experience delivering environmental and WHS management to corporate organisations and Commonwealth and State Departments. He has a deep knowledge of State and Commonwealth-harmonised WHS legislation, and Victoria’s Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation.
Daniel started his career in health and safety as a consultant for Legionella monitoring and indoor air quality assessments. He was responsible for managing national independent monitoring programs for AMP, Investa and Westfield.
His background in science and natural resource management stemming from his university studies, has led him to adopt a scientific and analytical approach to solving problems in the workplace.
As a senior environmental scientist with AECOM Environmental Health and Safety team (EHS), Daniel conducted occupational hygiene surveys in the mining industry and WHS legislative compliance audits for the Department of Defence and Department of Finance.
Daniel has used his WHS and occupational hygiene knowledge to undertake site assessments and develop reports to evaluate the level of risk for informed decisions based on insurance requirements.
Currently, Daniel is contracted to a Major Service Provider (MSP) as part of an integrated work package on behalf of the Department of Defence, Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG). Under this work package, he provides environmental and WHS consulting services for all acquisition and sustainment projects to the
Maritime Strategic Communication System Program Office (MSC SPO)
and the Satellite Communications System Program Office (SATCOM SPO).
This work involves providing specialist WHS advice for contract and tender evaluations, undertaking contractor WHS verifications, developing safe systems of work, HAZCHEM management, workplace assessments and developing policies and procedures aligned to CASG’s safety and environmental management systems.
When Daniel isn’t working, he plans trips to the coast with his family for camping, fishing and surfing in between his two seasons of the year – football season and cricket season!
Lauren Alexander
Co-founder of Compita Consulting, and provides Psychosocial Change services.
Lauren’s passion as a Change Agent stems from a lifelong desire to make a difference in the lives of others. From a young age, she aspired to be a Primary School Teacher to guide our young people to be their best.
After spending more than ten years in the education sector and experiencing the highs and lows of such a physically and psychologically demanding job, Lauren noticed the academic pressure children were under and was beginning to experience burnout.
In January 2019, she co-founded Compita Consulting with her husband, Daniel, opting to leave teaching to complement Daniel’s skills and expertise in Work Health and Safety (WHS) in the Government sectors.
In March 2022, she completed her Certificate IV in WHS with a vision of diversifying Compita Consulting to become a one-stop shop for managing physical and psychological hazards in the workplace. This is when her role as Psychosocial Change Agent was born.
Most recently, Lauren has assisted the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) with critical WHS matters, demonstrating her working knowledge of WHS Legislation. She is currently undertaking a Diploma in Positive Psychology and is motivated to work with organisations to foster positive changes in how they view psychologically safe workplaces.
